My recent Sun Princess cruise included a port stop in Nassau, Bahamas and a day pass to the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas. Having seen the commercials and iconic building images, I was excited to take a site tour and experience Atlantis in person for the first time.

After stepping into The Royal, one of four Atlantis hotels (The Royal, The Cove, The Reef, and The Coral) on the property, I went straight to the aquarium. It was a long, dark path themed with large stone walls, statues of interesting creatures, and items appearing to be from the fictional Atlantis civilization itself. A shark-filled tank has a large waterslide running down the middle that allows guests to raft right through. It was so cool!

The Royal is where you find the massive, arch bridge recognized around the world that can be seen for miles away. A huge casino sits on site as well as high-end stores for luxury shopping. It felt like I was walking in to a grand hotel on the Vegas strip, but with more of a clean, lively, and bright family atmosphere.

The aquarium path lead me to the back of the resort, where I found a massive waterpark complete with pools, slides, and a lazy river. I saw moms videoing playful kids and dads helping the little ones get through the more adventurous parts of the lazy river. The whole area was themed perfectly, the water was super clean, and the families looked like they were having an amazing time!

I then walked to the building closest to the beach, The Cove. It is laid-back, quiet, and has incredible views of the beach. The Cove features an adult-only pool that faces the ocean. All the Atlantis hotels offer categories to elevate your experience, such as club-level amenities, amazing corner suites with panoramic views, and a club lounge that serves snacks throughout the day. A concierge desk is conveniently located and staffed with knowledgeable, friendly helpers.

Next to The Cove is The Reef, which has rooms villa-style rooms complete with a kitchen and living room area. There are also studio rooms in addition to one and two-bedroom accommodations that will make your family feel right at home. I was super impressed by the huge fun and friendly Atlantis Resort! It reminded me of several Disney Resorts weaved together.

Don't miss this one! I highly suggest a stay with your family or grabbing an Atlantis day-pass if Nassau is one of your port stops on your cruise. Remember, however, that this is NOT an all-inclusive, and the food prices are higher than you would expect. Be prepared for food charges when you check out, but this resort is well-worth it.
